Please note, this was benchmarked against degrees at Universities around the world, in Engineering Management, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, and Systems Engineering. The intent is for it to be a guideline, for Universities to adapt by using some of their existing curriculum and developing the proposed coursework as needed.

    Sean, Alexia,

How are the sections around the world supposed to relate to this document?  Since it can be a very good basis for local cooperation agreements with academic institutions, sections around the globe may be very interested in it, since it's their specific function to further the objectives of the Association through closer personal relationships at the local level.            Is a complete list of the Universities involved in benchmarking this work available and also a complete list of Universities that have been provided with the document?

    Thanks,
    Lucio

This is a draft of the proposed curriculum, for comment. I will edit this again in July, as I have received additional comments and benchmarks.

There are several universities that are interested in implementing this curriculum, and Sean can speak more to that.

    Thanks Alexia.

As a minimum, the course must consider all the 8 qualifications offered by AACE as well as critical subjects like system engineering, value engineering, Quality, Health Safety Environment, Sustainability, Risk, Project Management, Procurement/Contracts, Asset Integrity etc.

    kind regards

    Varan

    Sean

It is a nine-page document and it is not easy to comment through this discussion group. A formal review option should be best value addition to this document. My key observation and my input are follows:
    - Considering the modern education system (even medicine - some university admit through GAMSAT - Graduate Australian Medical School Admissions Test) and no perquisite on any subject. On the basis an admission test examination is the best way forward. Alternatively Universities may admit based on a Bachelor Degree with scoring (3)
-10 subjects with major thesis or 12 subjects with minor project should be considered
    -  Cost Engineering Required / Core Courses
(8 courses / 24 credits from this list)
    • Cost Estimating - to be Cost, Time and Resources Estimating Principles (of course later one finally leading to cost)
    • New subject- Engineering Economics (covering budgeting, project evaluation and approval etc)
    - Project Management
    - Planning (which automatically include Scheduling)
    • Project Procurement Management (automatically include Contracting, construction law, contract administration and forensic claim, Alternative dispute resolutions)
    • Project and Contract Administration -delete
    • Fundamentals of Project Management -delete - System Engineering
    • Project Controls (Based on EVM and RP 29R)
    • Decision and Risk Analysis - may change merely to Risk Engineering
    -Project Accounting and Financial Engineering
    - Total Cost Engineering (Avoid management)
    - Asset Management
    • Performance Measurement and Data Analytics (Change the Data Analysis to Reporting)
Depending of the response I will add more.
