AI is already inside your project controls. The only real question left is — who's governing it?

Dr. Faiz Rasool, In this 40-minute   session will walk New Zealand cost-controls professionals through where AI is genuinely earning its keep across the Total Cost Management lifecycle — from ML-driven parametric estimating and AI-augmented schedule risk analysis, through earned-value anomaly detection, to forensic document review at scale — and where it is failing catastrophically when deployed without governance.

Drawing on 2025–2026 measurements from Datacom, Bluebeam, Deloitte, IBM, Gartner, ServiceTitan, and published Springer Nature research, the talk addresses three myths holding cost-controls professionals back: that AI is a tools problem rather than a governance problem; that single-jurisdiction training will travel; and that an existing cost-controls credential alone will be sufficient as procurement begins to score AI governance maturity.

Attendees will leave with a Monday-morning, five-action plan to move from spectator to AI-defensible cost professional — including practical guidance on AI policy architecture, professional-indemnity exposure, multi-jurisdictional compliance (EU AI Act, US frameworks, APAC, MEA), and the credential criteria that will define the next twenty years of the profession.
