Technical Program
:

An introduction to Open Source, openBIM®, Industry Foundation Classes (IFC), and how your role in the Construction Industry can benefit from them.  Learn how openBIM® extends the benefits of BIM (Building Information Modeling) by improving the accessibility, usability, and management of digital data.  Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) is a neutral and open file format specification.

The presenter will introduce you to these new opportunities and help you explore them by examining some of the tools, frameworks, and Open-Source software that is now available.  These can help you to learn and benefit from BIM technology without the high licensing costs of off the shelf software applications.  The presentation is a combination of slides, live software demonstration, and an open conversation with the audience.

Speaker:    Rey F. Diaz, PE

Díaz has more than 25 years of experience in program / project construction management, contract administration, scheduling, claims, construction engineering inspection, and litigation support for private and public entities in multi-discipline engineering projects.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida and a LEED Green Associate.  A Lean Practitioner who has worked to break information silos, Rey likes to be at the forefront of new developments in many different disciplines.  He writes code for fun and considers professional work as a hobby that offers him the opportunity to simultaneously exercise his creative disposition and expertise.
