Meet Onyeka Udoye

Where are you from, and where did you go to school?

I am from Montgomery County, Maryland.

I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and I am now finalizing my master's degree at the University of Maryland, Global Campus.

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I have dual citizenship (America and Nigeria).

Where do you work?

I work at Aegis Project Controls as a dispute resolution analyst. My work involves forensic delay analysis. My day-to-day looks like reconstructing what happened on a project, reviewing schedules and contract documents, and helping clients understand the causes and impacts of delays.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the people I get to work with. They are a perfect blend of brilliant minds who consistently get the job done, while also being absolute fun to work with.

What are your future goals and aspirations for your career? Did someone inspire you to be on this career path?

As an analyst, my short-term goal is to develop into a well-rounded dispute-resolution consultant in the construction industry. I aim to strengthen my analytical skills and become confident in independently performing delay analyses and developing clear, defensible narratives for clients. I am interested in continuing to build my proficiency with tools such as Primavera P6 and Excel, while also expanding my understanding of how projects are executed in the field.

Why did you join AACE?

I joined AACE as I was preparing to take the CST certification and recognized that AACE offered the most relevant and reliable resources to support my preparation. Their materials and recommended practices aligned closely with the knowledge and skills I needed. As a new analyst in the construction industry, I also saw AACE as an opportunity to grow beyond just technical knowledge. I wanted to expand my professional network, learn from experienced practitioners, and gain exposure to industry standards and real-world applications.

What do you like most about being an AACE member? Or what’s your favorite part of being an AACE member?

Being an AACE member means being a part of a prestigious collection of professionals, and that is the best part.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to enter the field?

I would encourage them to put doubts aside and go for it. It is an industry with room for everyone's growth and fosters many diverse career paths.
