AACE International is proud to recognize John P. Orr, PSP FAACE, as the recipient of the AACE Award of Merit.

The Award of Merit recognizes individuals whose significant contributions have made a meaningful and lasting impact on AACE and the cost engineering profession. Candidates must demonstrate a substantial record of active service and achievement and receive at least three independent nominations to be considered for this distinguished honor.

For John, joining the ranks of previous Award of Merit recipients makes the recognition particularly meaningful.

A Career of Technical Leadership and Service

John has been a member of AACE since 2006, the same year he earned his Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification. Over the past two decades, he has established an extensive record of technical contribution, volunteer leadership, and service to the association.

A significant part of that service has been dedicated to the AACE International Technical Board. John joined the Technical Board in 2011 and has served as its Chair since 2020, helping guide AACE’s technical initiatives and supporting the continued development and sharing of industry knowledge.

For John, his work with the Technical Board has been one of the most rewarding aspects of his professional journey.

John’s technical contributions extend well beyond his leadership role. He is a respected author and presenter at the AACE Conference & Expo and has played an important role in developing AACE’s technical resources. He has served as a primary contributing author to two AACE Recommended Practices and contributed to an additional 17 Recommended Practices, helping build and strengthen resources used by professionals throughout the industry.

Dedicated Service at Every Level

John’s commitment to AACE is also evident at the local level. He has served as President of the AACE North Florida Section since 2013, providing more than a decade of sustained leadership to his local professional community.

His contributions have earned recognition from AACE throughout his years of service. John received the Charles V. Keane Distinguished Service Award in 2017 and the Technical Excellence Award in 2018. In 2019, he received the prestigious designation of AACE Fellow (FAACE) in recognition of his professional attainment and significant accomplishments within the profession.

Professionally, John serves as a Senior Scheduling Engineer at AECOM Technical Services, bringing the same depth of knowledge and commitment to excellence demonstrated through his extensive AACE involvement.

Advancing the Profession Through Knowledge Sharing

Throughout John’s AACE journey, a common thread has been his dedication to strengthening the technical foundation of the profession and sharing knowledge with others.

Through his leadership of the Technical Board, contributions to Recommended Practices, Conference & Expo presentations, and longstanding section service, John has helped support the resources, education, and professional community that enable cost engineering and project controls professionals to excel.

John’s career and volunteer service demonstrate the impact one professional can have through sustained technical contribution, leadership, and a willingness to share expertise with others.
