The AACE Decision and Risk Management (DRM) Subcommittee advances the development and application of structured decision-making and risk management practices across the Total Cost Management framework. It serves as a technical forum supporting the Technical Board for evaluating, developing, and disseminating recommended practices, and educational resources related to decision analysis, uncertainty modeling, risk quantification, risk treatment, and control. The DRM Subcommittee fosters collaboration among practitioners, researchers, and educators to promote consistency, transparency, and rigor in managing uncertainty throughout the project lifecycle. Its mission is to strengthen industry capability in making informed, data-driven decisions that optimize outcomes for capital programs and organizational investments.

An important function of a subcommittee is the development of AACE recommended practices (RPs). These are peer-reviewed documents (usually < 10 pages) that define the specifics of particular methods or procedures, often derived from past papers and articles.
