AACE Region 2 celebrated a major milestone this spring as the 10th Annual Northeast Symposium brought project controls professionals together for technical learning, collaboration, and industry connection, beginning with the two-day PSP Prep Course hosted by Ankura in Washington, DC, on March 24-25, 2026, followed by the Northeast Symposium at the University of Maryland, College Park, on March 26-27, 2026.

This year’s symposium featured expert-led sessions across claims and dispute resolution, planning and scheduling, estimating, total cost management, project management, and data science and advanced analytics. Attendees explored timely topics, including forensic schedule analysis, construction law, critical path method, AI-assisted estimating, schedule analytics, and owner-focused project controls strategies, while also celebrating Region 2’s continued investment in the future of the profession through its scholarship program supporting rising students in engineering and construction-related fields.

A special thank you to Region 2 Director: Natasha Dahl, the dedicated planning committee, the University of Maryland for serving as host, and our outstanding sponsors and exhibitors whose support helped make this milestone year possible.

AACE Region 2 remains committed to advancing technical excellence, strengthening our professional community, and creating opportunities for both current and future leaders in project controls. On April 27, the AACE Region 9 Europe & Africa Symposium brought project controls and cost engineering professionals together in Madrid, Spain, for a full day of technical learning, collaboration, and international connection centered around the theme, “Navigating Uncertainty: The Future of Project Controls.”

Hosted at NH Madrid Ventas by the AACE Spain Section and Region 9’s dedicated volunteer leadership team, this year’s symposium delivered a high-caliber program spanning cost estimating, AI and BIM integration, decision intelligence, sustainability, earned value innovation, feasibility strategy, and capital project data management. Through expert-led presentations and keynote sessions, attendees explored how emerging technologies, structured data, and forward-looking project controls practices are reshaping cost engineering across industries and borders.

Beyond the technical program, the symposium created valuable opportunities for networking, idea sharing, and professional exchange among attendees from across Europe, Africa, and beyond.

A special thank you to the AACE Spain Section, Region 9 organizers, sponsors, speakers, and attendees whose support and participation made this event possible. From platinum and gold sponsors to supporting partners and volunteers behind the scenes, the symposium reflected AACE’s commitment to advancing technical excellence and expanding opportunities for project controls professionals throughout Europe and Africa.
