    I'm looking into improving my benchmarking process by working through RP 114R-20: Project Historical Database Development and RP 110R-20: Cost Estimate Validation. Is historical database development or querying and manipulating historical data in the scope of the Data Science & Analytics group? Has anyone looked into new tools for this? Interested in hearing for anyone who has so I'm not reinventing the wheel.

    2. Is the solution intended for end users or for a data analyst/scientist?

    I'm interested in hearing if members think benchmarking & analyzing data from historical databases in something the Data Science & Advanced Analytics group should be looking into or if it's covered by another community. If it is the domain of another community, is there an aspect that would be part of this community such as using statistics or AI on the data.

    RP 114R-20 has a good breakdown of database types I can reference. The end users being data analyst/scientist would apply to this community. Because I'm still in the building stage I think it would be beneficial to hear from anyone else who has been using a database, and how they are looking into new tools or techniques to get usable data and metrics out of it.

    I think that there are no available tools that can do that as the shape and form of your data might be different to others so is very particular, I find that the effort should be on building the pipeline of info as opposed to build tools.

    I have started in the past with excel until the point we had enough data to migrate to sql and then with a good structure and consistent information on an established workflow, tools are the next step, then you can interrogate the data on a different level but again depends on what you need to get from it.

    so in summary I have seen tools, but none of them account for the data pipeline so they are not good enough to be used unless you curate your info before and then the tools are rigid and hard to adapt, some software like cleopatra has a database but is again a database and the analysis is still on you. therefore i dont think that there are available tools that can suit all yet, perhaps in the near future
